KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Afternoon Session
Brooklyn Andrew is a 5'7, class of 2024 RHP, 1B/3B from Winterset, IA who attends Winterset Senior HS. Brooklyn is an emerging two-way player who also swings an impressive bat. She ran a 3.57 20-yard dash with a 1.24 5-yard split. A primary RHP, Brooklyn is a solid power pitcher with a strong core that she incorporates well into every delivery. She repeats her operation well. Her well-commanded fastball has a drop component and is thrown to the bottom third of the zone and to both edges. Her change up is an advanced pitch that is thrown from the FB release point with outstanding hand speed. It is thrown to the bottom of the zone and plays well off the FB. Her curveball has short. late break and is thrown consistently and confidently to her glove side. Her rise is a great compliment to the drop and curve. She likes to throw the rise to the arm side edge and like her other pitches, it is obviously thrown with a plan and sound command. Lastly, her drop is a big action pitch. It is a hammer and shows sound 12-to-6 action. It is a heavy pitch. Brooklyn's entire approach to pitching is not only going to play at the next level, it is going to play quite well. DI prospect as a P. she also took a turn at 1B. She reads the ball off the bat well and positions consistently. Her glove is sure and her transition is routine. Her 51-mph throws are sound and accurate. At the plate, this RHH starts in a slightly open stance and utilizes a quick leg lift trigger. She is strong and keeps her path on plane and incorporates a slugger's lift at contact. When on time and on path, she can power the ball out of the park. Brooklyn is a highly projectable, very promising prospect. She has various abilities on the diamond that will serve a collegiate program well. High ceiling. Big Upside. Bright future!
