JW Stephens is a 2023 C/2B, 3B, SS with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Lutz, FL who attends Steinbrenner. A medium frame with some strength in the frame. Ran a 7.81 60-yard dash. Primary catcher who starts with a side saddle and has jumpy feet to start. His momentum works direct through it. Throws around the bag during his round. Good momentum on the catch-and-release. Threw 75 mph and produced a 2.01 pop time. Also worked out as an infielder with a confident glove. Comfortable at the position with smooth hands when fielding up the middle. Had some zip on the throws that were at 82 mph across the diamond. Switch hitter. As a left-hander, he has a high-set hand start with open feet. Uses a quick leg lift trigger with bigger height on it. Really uses the upper body to hunt barrels. As a right-handed hitter, he has a similar setup with open feet and high hands. Had some quickness to his hands with good intent and the ability to get extended as a right-hander. Exceptional student.
