Marie Young is a 5’5, class of 2026, OF/C from Donnellson, IA who will attend Central Lee HS. She shows enthusiastic athletic ability and appears to truly enjoy playing the game. She has developing quickness and running ability that will certainly improve with physical maturity. Her 3.41 20 yard/60 foot dash is commendable for her age group. Her 5.44 shuttle shows sound quickness and athleticism. Defensively, Marie shows solid skill at two positions. In the OF, she shows a solid foundation and consistent skills that are certain to improve as she moves through competitions levels. She has a quicker first step to position and fields the ball with smooth and easy hands. She has noticeable arm strength, and her throws are routinely on target. With the gear on, Marie has an easy set up and never cheats to receive the ball. Her hands are soft, and she transitions well. She has a veteran’s ability to throw the ball from her knees and her throws show carry and are consistently accurate. At the plate, Marie has sound ability. Her bunt game is quite mature for a younger player. She shows soft hands and an ability to get the ball on the ground. She utilizes an inside-out swing path and shows a plus ability to drive the ball up the middle and to the opposite field. She has plus feel for the barrel and can strike the ball with authority. She is a line drive machine and will be a plus hitter as she matures and gains more experience. Marie shows a solid, maturing skill set that will unquestionably improve as she moves through her career. Bright, upside potential. (cjm)
