Joshua Diaz is a 2028 3B/RHP/1B with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Staten Island, NY who attends The Stony Brook. Medium, broader frame with present strength throughout and room to fill out as he matures. Recorded a 7.98 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary third baseman with deliberate actions into the fielding process, slightly deeper funnel and arm strength across the diamond. Showcased some lateral range to either side and recorded fairly accurate throws with carry up to 81 mph during drills. Right-handed pitcher that worked from a deliberate paced windup with a slightly coiled, belt high leg lift and shorter stride out to foot strike. Fastball worked in the 76-80 mph range for the majority of his outing, peaking at 81 in this look from a higher three-quarters arm slot. Produces heavy life to the pitch, occasionally cutting it and gets weak contact when put into play. Mixed in slower, big breaking curveball with gradual depth and 11-5 shape to it, will continue to improve with additional velocity and more conviction. Right-handed hitter that hits from an even, balanced stance with a shoulder height hand set and low back elbow. Simple, controlled small stride into launch with slightly elongated swing path and some quickness to his hands. Leveraged stroke with strength at impact and the ability to create backspin through the gaps. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and more lower half usage. Physical, young prospect with upside on the mound and at the plate. Will continue to improve with minor refinements mechanically and additional velocity.
