Angel J. Ortega is a 2012 MIF with a 6-2 160 lb. frame from Trujillo Alto, PR who attends Colegio Hector Urdaneta HS. Long slender build. 7.10 runner, has run 6.7 before. Athletic actions in the middle infield, smooth lateral quickness, soft hands, good balance, quick release, arm really works well, very good carry and accuracy, has all the defensive tools. Switch hitter, very similar approach/mechanics both sides, bit shorter lift handed, stays inside the ball, line drive swing plane, limited lower half/backside use, looks to pull, will benefit from more strength. Defense plays high, bat still developing. Might be very interesting to try on the mound at some point. Signed with Alabama State.
