Jamaal Hawkins is a 2007 MIF from Sprayberry High School in Marietta, GA, with a 5'10'', 160 lb. frame. Hawkins is a lean and athletic player that ran a 7.05 sixty on a slow and wet track. Defensively he has nice footwork in the middle of the diamond with soft hands and good actions. He shows range to both sides and has great body control. He has a solid arm and makes online and accurate throws with a quick release. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from an open stance with quiet hands and a good approach. Hawkins has a smooth and easy swing with a line drive swing plane. He stays inside the ball well with good bat speed, and hits the ball where it is pitched. Hawkins is an advanced hitter with college level tools. With his combination of offensive and defensive skills make him one of the top 2007 middle infield prospects. He is also a good student.
