Brett Zawacki is a 2007 RHP/OF with a 6'1'', 180 lb. frame from Peru IL, who attends LaSalle-Peru Township HS. He has a live, athletic frame with good present strength and the frame to get stronger. Zawacki missed much of the last year after ACL surgery from a basketball injury but has made up for last time in a hurry. He has a power arm that can maintain 90-93 mph velocity with life late into games. Zawacki has sound, balanced pitching mechanics with a full hip turn. His arm action is compact in back and long and extended in front and fast and smooth coming forward. His fastball has excellent boring and sinkin glife at times and Zawacki misses low when he does miss. His breaking ball is a sharp 76 mph curveball with a big sweeping break. His change up shows deception and quality around 80 mph. Zawack is also a good athlete who shows very nice bat speed at the plate and the ability to play both centerfield and third base at a high level. His athletic ability will help his development as a pitcher. Pro scouts will be anxious to see Zawacki play next spring.
