Trei Cruz is a 2017 SS/2B with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Pinecrest, FL who attends Episcopal HS. Excellent athletic build, high waisted, long and loose and very projectable physically. Switch-hitter, similar load and approach from both sides, right handed swing and bat speed is much more advanced at present, very good right handed bat speed with looseness and extension through contact, ball comes off the barrel hard. Still gaining confidence and rhythm left handed, inconsistent balance and aggression to the ball. 7.38 runner, smooth and fluid defensive actions, has soft hands through the ball and a good exchange, feet get in position to throw, good arm strength with more to come. Also pitched, occasional Hideo Nomo back turn mechanics, gives different looks and arm angles, gets good sink and run on a fastball up to 80 mph. Son/Grandson of the long-time MLB Jose Cruz family. Has different physical tools but is highly athletic. Good student.
