Cameron Tilly (2023, Newburgh, Ind.) is a 6-foot-3, 190-pound hard throwing right-handed pitcher from Castle High School in his hometown. Toeing the rubber for Artillery Baseball 2023 Scout during their Friday night opener, Tilly dazzled his opponent, on the way to a seven-inning, six-hit shutout where he scattered six hits, walked two, and struck out an impressive 10 hitters. Cameron looks the part on the mound, deploying a full windup with a slow, gathered pace, before ramping up his arm speed upon release from a three-quarter slot. With nice flexibility, Tilly works well over his front side, giving him the ability to throw a lot of strikes and work down in the strike zone. Tilly used 109 pitches to complete his assignment and featured an advanced three-pitch mix of a fastball up to 93 mph with riding life through the zone, a splitter in the low- to mid-80s with fall-off-the-table drop and slice to it, and a slider in the high-70s with tilt, tunneling well off his fastball. Tilly’s outing placed him first on the pitcher top performers list after Day 1, which is no surprise to some, as he is already recognized by our scouts as a top right-handed pitcher in the class, ranking inside the top-50, as well as the top right-hander from his home state of Indiana. Cameron is committed to continue his academic and athletic career at Auburn University upon completion of his senior year next spring.
